TOTENTANZ
TOTENTANZ 2018- Ongoing
Totentanz/Sketch for a Parade is a movement meditation that holds at its core an accumulative building session. A participatory live diorama and a prayer by heretics, joining in a polyrhythm of dancing and connecting support structures. It lasts two hours and is open to any moving body. It opens with a warm up/talk that includes Steve Paxton’s small dance, a reflection of the unconditional support of the earth, and the genesis of the traditional dance macabre iconography. Emerged in a time of epidemic, around the time of what Silvia Federici indicates as the early seed of capitalism: the enclosures, the privatization of land, the division of labour and genders…..in essence Totentanz is a dynamic meditation, a spell for equality and reclaiming of aliveness, a question of how, besides religious dogmatism, we can recover/repair/reclaim lost 'technologies of ecstasy’.
Hosts: Marc Lohr (live drumming), Vladimir Miller (building), Maria F. Scaroni (dance), Mieko Suzuki (electronics)
